Water Damaged Carpet – Can it be Saved?

2/27/2017 (Permalink)

Delamination is when there is the separation of the secondary backing from the primary backing of the carpet.

The answer is yes, most water damaged carpet can be saved, if it is dried quickly. When SERVPRO of South Albuquerque arrives at a water damage loss, our Technicians will quickly begin to extract the water out of the carpet. Once they have extracted as much water as they can they inspect it for damage.

A common problem with water damaged carpet is, if not dried quickly there will be delamination and mildew damage. Our Technicians will the inspect the carpet backing to see if the carpet backing latex adhesive looks sound, or if there is any mold or delamination.

Another reason that water damaged carpet can’t be saved is damaged caused by sewage contamination. If any of these issues are present, it’s best to discard the carpet.

Having a company that can coordinate the whole process from start to finish makes your life easier, and gets you back in your home or business faster. “Like it never even happened.”
